Step inside Hangar162.

We believe that a culture of closeness is the beating heart of every group; from families to Fortune 50 companies. In happy families and happy companies members feel close together. Leaders are trying to speak positively about their organizations when they say "we're like a family."

Hangar 162 is in the business of making individuals feel recognized, respected, and heard -- making successful organizations better. We are in the business of bringing people closer together.

Hello, we are Hangar162.

We believe you should bring your whole self to work; that who you work with is just as important as what you work on; and that great people, freed to work how they would like, will do great things together.

What are you passionate about?

Service. Quick, diligent, precise, anticipatory service. I love serving the people around me. I'll do anything to help people be at their best.

Best class taken as a student:

Interpersonal Dynamics at the Stanford GSB. Turns out that up to that point in my life I hadn't really been listening, just waiting to talk.

Favorite hero of fiction?

Travis McGee, although Sherlock Holmes and Mitch Rapp are also on the podium.

Favorite joke:

"Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?"

Favorite word:

It is still, and has for a long time been, a tie between Egypt and hijinks. Writing the three down strokes, "gyp", in Egypt is so much fun. Likewise, the three superscript dots in a row in hijinks are fantastic.

Office necessity:

A standup desk, you've got to get up and get active, move around.

Coffee or tea:

Coffee, especially Public Domain's Prometheus Blend.

I like...

Cruise control. I believe the highway patrol should aggressively ticket people who aren't able to maintain speed.

I dislike...

Belts, believe you me they are going the way of the buggy whip.

On the top of your "Projects I'd Love To Get To" list:

Animated animal shorts. I have a whole bunch of ideas. The plot I like best is about a group of mafioso langoustines, unrepentant smokers and scoundrels, who are scooped up in the Mediterranean and taken to Las Vegas. In their minds it is to muscle in on Vegas operations. In reality, they have to outwit the kitchen staff to escape.

Favorite music album:

Exile on Main Street

Best halloween costume:

In fourth grade I went as a speed bump. Yellow fabric, wood frame to provide some structure along the top. My Dad backed over it a few times on the driveway to add some tire marks. I carried a sign with me that read, "Caution Bump Ahead". Zero prizes in the costume contest came my way, not a one. A friend of mine borrowed the costume in fifth grade and won first prize. I'm still pissed.

Favorite quote:

"Take things always by their smooth handle." -- Thomas Jefferson. Although Ross Perot’s, “Eagles don’t flock” is wonderfully fierce.

First computer owned:

Have always had Macs for personal use. I guess the PowerPC when I went to college was the first computer where I was the primary user. I also had one of those orange clam shell shaped iBooks that, like clockwork, crashed during finals every quarter.

Favorite form of exercise:

I believe you have to mix it up. Swimming one day, then running the next. I read a Wall Street Journal article about a congressional staffer in DC who laid out 20 different workouts, named them, and then rolls an old set of Dungeons and Dragons dice to determine what he is going to do that day. Am slowly expanding my own repertoire of options.

Favorite game:

Play gin. Learning backgammon. Tempted by bridge.

Favorite hobby:

I remain positive that I will have my golf game tuned up in time for the opening round of the 2044 NCGA Super Senior.

And I’m Wiley. ✖ Close

What are you passionate about?

Simplifying complexity. I love the challenge of taking something complex and distilling it down to its basic elements.

Best class taken as a student:

Human Computer Interface. I find the interface between man and machine to be fascinating and an area that many people overlook when designing products.

Favorite hero of fiction?

Inspector Gadget

Favorite joke:

A man drops a quarter down the toilet in an outhouse. His friend stops by and notices the man is upset. Then the man drops a silver dollar down the toilet. “Why did you do that?”, asks the friend. “Well, I wouldn’t go down there for a quarter but for a silver dollar....”

Favorite word:

"Onomatopoeia", one word describing a whole class of great words such as "Moo","Woof" and "Quack".

Office necessity:

Music. I find that background music helps me relax and concentrate. Pandora and some decent speakers are a great combination.

Coffee or tea:

Sleepy: coffee. Awake: tea

I like...

Being outdoors. Every office should have opening windows.

I dislike...

Being in a warm room with stale air

On the top of your "Projects I'd Love To Get To" list:

Building some things I've been designing in my head and on various scraps of paper.

Favorite music album:

At the Point - Matt Nathanson

Best halloween costume:

Driver’s License

Favorite quote:

If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because man, they're gone. (Jack Handey, “Deep Thoughts”)

First computer owned:

Commodore 64

Favorite form of exercise:

Paddling an outrigger canoe. What could be better than being out on the ocean on a gorgeous day while getting a great workout? Throw some wave riding in the mix and it's just about perfect.

Favorite game:

Apples to Apples

Favorite hobby:

Building cool stuff on and off the computer.

Share what you see.

Humans use a lot of mediums to make and communicate meaning, many of which obscure the direct and common sense approach of seeing things for yourself.

There is loss in the execution of the vision when distance is involved. In all of the emails, spreadsheets, powerpoints along the way something is lost. The final product can fall short of the ideal. We are there to fill that gap. To bring reality closer to your vision.

This product is a tool for organizations that value culture, that value the contributions of their employees, that want people to love, absolutely love, coming to work.

Hangar 162 is building a video communication platform.

As an individual, it is powerful way to privately share what's going on where you are with family and friends.

As a business, it is a simple and inexpensive video solution that requires no integration. From a general contractor showing clients progress on their house to a large retailer checking-in with hundreds of store managers, our product gives you greater visibility into what's going on in different parts of your business.

Want to know more about what Hangar 162 Productions could do for your business? Send an email to Ryan and Wiley, we'll see how we can help.

  • Have a commanding knowledge of client-side JavaScript and AJAX development.

  • Have basic UNIX/MacOSX skills and be able to run scripts and basic commands from the command line.
  • Have familiarity with `git` and `github` and understand how to use branches, pull requests, and other collaborative development tools.
